Primary and Elementary Program Coordinator
Amanda (she/her) brings extensive experience to Little City Montessori from her seventeen years in Montessori education.
Amanda attended Seton Montessori Institute in Chicago, Illinois for her AMS Early Childhood training, and immediately after, founded her own Montessori school in Indianapolis, Indiana. From its establishment in 2010 until her relocation to Philadelphia, Amanda served as the Owner and Head of School while leading the classroom. The school is exemplary of Amanda’s vision and leadership, with a year round outdoor classroom and focus on family engagement.
Since moving to Philadelphia in 2017, Amanda has worn many hats throughout the local Montessori community. At different times, she has taken on the roles of Curriculum Director, Lead Teacher, and Kindergarten Specialist. In all of her roles, she has always had a knack for connecting people to the Montessori method, through staff training, parent education, and community events. Amanda is currently working toward her Montessori certification for lower elementary (grades 1-3) from the Princeton Center for Teacher Education. This year, she will be taking a step away from the classroom to join the administrative team, overseeing the three primary rooms at Little City and developing our highly anticipated Elementary Program!
Montessori has played a role in Amanda’s personal life as well. Her daughter, currently a student at Moore College of Art and Design here in Philadelphia, attended both public and private Montessori schools through the 8th grade. Amanda loves living in Fishtown with her two cats and her partner (who also attended public Montessori school!).
